If you take out a loan, mortgage, or, for example, a cell phone plan with the BKR, this is recorded and registered with the BKR. This is a neutral or “positive” record. If you fail to meet your payment obligations for an extended period, the record becomes a negative BKR record.
A negative BKR registration means that in many cases you will not be able to take out new credit, such as applying for a (new) loan, signing a lease contract, or purchasing a new phone.
