Requesting and Challenging CIS Registration
You always have the right to know what information about you has been stored. This right is enshrined in the GDPR, the General Data Protection Regulation. Requesting your CIS registration is the first important step toward gaining insight into your situation.
You can apply through the CIS Foundation website. You can choose from three methods: via the WebApp using the Yivi app, which does not require you to provide a copy of your ID; via a web form on their website; or by mail, in which case you must include a copy of your ID. With the latter option, you may obscure your BSN and passport photo to protect your privacy. Only you can request this information. Consulting firms are not permitted to do this on your behalf, with the exception of guardians for individuals under guardianship.
If you have received your registration and notice that it contains a negative entry, there are several options available. You can contact the insurer that entered the information directly, submit a correction request to Stichting CIS using their correction form, or seek professional legal assistance. Here at Dynamiet Nederland, we have years of experience challenging CIS records and know exactly when there are opportunities for removal or correction.
It’s important to be realistic about the possibilities. CIS records are often more difficult to challenge than BKR records, especially in cases of fraud. However, in situations where the record has been on file for an unreasonably long time, is insufficiently substantiated, or contains procedural errors, we can often achieve results. Our attorneys will review your specific situation and give you an honest assessment of your chances.
