What does a 2-code at BKR mean?

A code 2 is one of the so-called particularity codes the BKR uses when registering a person's credit report. The 2 code behind a credit, means that the lender has claimed the credit with a late payment on it, all at once.

How does a BKR code 2 arise?

When you borrow money, it is registered by the BKR (Bureau Krediet Registratie). Such a registration is called a BKR registration.

This in itself need not be a bad thing. In fact, as long as you continue to meet your payment obligations nicely, this is all about a positive BKR registration.

It becomes a problem only when you fall behind in repaying the loan.

We then speak of a negative BKR registration.

Such negative registration leads to an A code. An "A" (arrears report) will then appear after the credit entry on your credit report. Such an A code can take several forms, A2 being one of them.

What is an A2 code?

An A2 code actually consists of two separate parts: the "A" and the "2." The meaning of the A we discussed above, this is the Arrears Notification which shows that a payment default has occurred on the credit.

The addition of a 2 indicates exactly what is going on with that lag.

That 2 code is added when the lender asks for the entire credit arrears to be repaid at once. This often includes the use of a collection agency, for example.

Even after the loan is paid off and the arrears are thus cleared, this coding remains visible for five years. Therefore, an A2 coding can ugly your future plans.

Getting your 2-code removed from the BKR

Of course, it is very frustrating that you can continue to suffer for up to five years from a backlog you accumulated in the past.

Fortunately, in many cases it is possible to get rid of such BKR codes in an accelerated manner. For example, by having the BKR code removed by a specialist like Dynamite Netherlands.
