Factors in the length of time it takes to remove a BKR registration
When we see sufficient grounds to consider your request, we will send you an offer. Upon approval, we will then start working for you to have your BKR registration removed. How long this will take depends on several factors. Below we explain the most important ones.
1. The lender
For how long it will be removed, we depend, among other things, on the lender from which the BKR registration came.
That's because we - on your behalf - submit a removal request to the agency where you took out the original loan or debt. That means we depend on how quickly that lender will process the request.
Practice shows, for example, that we can expect a response from one bank within a few days, while another can quietly take several weeks.
So how long the removal of a BKR registration takes depends largely on the party the registration came from. Of course, we will do our utmost to have a quick result for you, especially when there is a rush to remove the registration (see also point 4: urgent procedure).
2. The nature of registration
Contrary to what many people think, the nature of a BKR registration has less impact on how long it takes to remove the registration.
By the nature of a registration, we mean how "serious" the BKR coding is. For example, is it a serious late payment, or just a mild coding?
While a light code is usually easier to remove, this has little or no impact on how long it takes to remove. Again, for this we depend more on the lender where you took out the loan or debt.
For example, removing a light registration at one bank may take longer than a heavy registration at another.
3. External conditions
In addition, of course, there are always external circumstances that can affect how long it takes to remove your BKR registration.
For example, the lender in question may be dealing with a shortage of staff, causing files to take longer than usual. Removing a BKR registration may also take longer during vacation periods as staff go on leave.
But also consider, for example, market conditions. For example, at the time of writing - due to low interest rates - many people are in the market for a (business) loan or new mortgage. This leads to an increase in the number of requests for BKR removal, which can make it take longer for a lender to process a request.
4. Emergency procedure
In some cases, you have absolutely no time to wait for the normal duration of a BKR removal. For example, when the offer on your dream home has been accepted and making ends meet on the mortgage hinges on the removal.
In such cases - in order to avoid dissolution of the purchase contract - an emergency procedure may help.
We urge the lender on your behalf to expedite the processing of the request. That way, we can reduce how long it takes to get the BKR registration often, so you do not have to sit in suspense unnecessarily whether or not the purchase will go through.
